Project Update
Negotiations are ongoing with the Tauranga City Council towards a compensation agreement for use of the Trust land for the Infrastructure Corridors and Active Reserve. Your Directors have met with the new TCC Mayor Mahé Drysdale and had positive discussions. This complex process is continuing and once we have an agreement in principle this will be brought back to the Trust Owners to consider.
Background work is also continuing towards a Plan Change for Te Tumu that would eventually enable development to occur on the Te Tumu land area. We are working with Tauranga City Council staff and adjoining land owners on these processes and will report to owners when we have a clear plan of the proposed way forward.
As owners will appreciate physical development on our land is still many years away so there is an opportunity to consider interim land uses that do not require substantial infrastructure. During the owners consultation hui we heard multiple owners express their desire to operate commercial activities on the whenua. This is an opportunity for you to reach out to the Directors with your commercial business ideas for consideration. Board members have visited and viewed a commercial worm composting operation and we are aware that there may be owners who are already knowledgeable and available to establish a commercial worm farm on our whenua, if this is you please reach out. Temporary storage facilities is another possibility but whatever is pursued must comply with consenting rules. Owners who have any interest in submitting commercial proposals are welcome to contact the Trust. The development of the Sands Town Centre is progressing and the extension of the Te Okuroa Drive to the Trust boundary may open up new opportunities.
2025 Owners Hui
The next owners hui is provisionally set down for Saturday 22nd November 2025. Venue to be advised and notices will issue nearer the day.
As always owners can view historical information and latest updates on the Trust website and provide feedback through the Contacts page.
